The Interregional cooperation Programme INTERREG IVC, financed by the European Union’s Regional Development Fund, helps Regions of Europe work together to share experience and good practice
in the area of innovation, the knowledge economy, the environment and risk prevention. EUR 302 million is available for project funding but, more than that, a wealth of knowledge and potential solutions are also on hand for regional policymakers.
About CO2Free – Cooperating 2 Foster Renewables and Energy Efficiency
The CO2Free - project is funded by EU-programme, Interreg IVC. The problem that CO2Free is trying to address is that of climate change.
European regions have a key role to play in promoting, developing and implementing renewable energies, exploiting all available renewable energy resources and maximizing the amount of energy being sourced from renewables, therefore reducing reliance on fossil fuels and working towards sustainable development.
On the other hand, Information and communications technologies (ICT) also has an important role to play leading the fight against carbon emissionsby improving energy efficiencies throughout the economy, buildings, lighting and the power grid and by facilitating the integration of renewable energy sources.
It has been recognized thatSmart and Green are becoming synonymous. In CO2Free we show how this can be done in practice.
